Sebastian’s Bistro at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort

We had dinner at Sebastian’s Bistro last night. Our reservation was just before 6 pm. We were seated immediately after checking in.

The restaurant itself is bright and beachy. Just out front there is an outdoor bar. There are Adirondack chairs on the deck near the water overlooking the resort. It’s quite lovely.

Our waiter didn’t smile and didn’t have much personality. You always expect that famous Disney service, but it’s been going downhill for years. I also saw a woman who appeared to be a manager, and I never saw her smile either.

We started with two appetizers. Beef empanadas and pull-apart bread. The bread came with guava butter, onion spread, and Caribbean spiced oil. Both were good, although I found the empanada to be salty.

I had the coconut shrimp and grits. I found the shrimp to be a bit overcooked. Honestly the shrimp and grits at Chef Art Smith’s Homecoming in Disney Springs is far superior.

The other three in our party ordered variations of the Caribbean trio. You get three of four choices; jerk chicken, pulled pork, goat stew, and coconut shrimp.

Caribbean Trio, two ways. Goat Stew.

For dessert two of us ordered the sorbet. It came with guava, mango-lime, and Caribbean fruit. This was the highlight. All three were delicious, my favorite being guava.

A member of our party was celebrating a birthday and was presented with a Mickey shaped dessert. They also sang “Happy Birthday” to her.

The food menu is very small, while the drink menu is rather large. The restaurant is comfortable and small. We noticed that there wasn’t any music, except in the restroom. While I liked it, it’s not one that I feel I need to return to. Although sitting outside enjoying the weather is definitely something I’d consider.
