Halloween Horror Nights Canceled- But It’s Not All Bad News, I Think

I had to take a bit to collect my thoughts on this before I sat down to write a post. Some of you aren’t going to agree with me, but I’m still putting it all out there.

With what’s going on in California, Florida, and the rest of the country right now, I can say that we all should have seen this coming. I hoped for it in all honesty. Before you go jumping up and down like a toddler, let me explain why.

In Orlando (Which is where I’m located and is why I’m focusing on FL.), this year marks a Halloween Horror Nights anniversary milestone. The BIG 3-0. As someone who LOVES this event, I think celebrating that milestone to hell and back is a better option than trying to whittle it down to bare bones. To experience HHN this year would mean things like very limited attendance entry, more than likely very different house experiences, and no shows or scare zones. There were even rumors of it being held in the daytime. The daytime? I think not. Is that what you want for the 30th? I don’t.

If we skip this year entirely, it never happens. Technically that means the 30th didn’t happen. So, are you with me fellow HHN enthusiasts? We get to celebrate the 30th in 2021. And have that comeback/anniversary be the biggest, scariest Halloween Horror Nights ever.

Here’s one thing. Universal already has the HHN 30 merchandise up on their website. But that’s okay. No need to pull it all down. Leave it up, because honestly, if they did it would sell year-round anyway. Just add new merchandise on top of what’s there when 2021 rolls around. Everyone is happy.

So while we all drown in our tears of despair and hopelessness that the best Halloween event in the country isn’t going to happen in this shitshow of a year, can we all pull ourselves up by our eyelids and see what glorious hell is coming next year?

By the way, if you have any pull at Universal Creative or know anyone that does, please feel free to pass my ideas on to them. I’d really hate for “30” to end up in the toilet and be called “31” next year. I was a mere Team Captain when I left. 🙂
