Enrico Toro, 35, of Orlando, FL is accused of hitting an Epcot security guard over the park’s face mask policy on August 14.
Toro arrived at the park around 4:40 pm with his wife and children. They were told they had improper masks by the security guard. When they were told by another security guard they would need proper masks, they went back to their car. Minutes later they returned to the park, but the security guard noticed that one of the children didn’t have on a proper mask.
Toro became “irate” and used profanity.
According to the report, Toro said, “Call the police. They will have to shoot me to leave.” When the security guard reached for his phone to call a supervisor, Toro struck him in the head. Toro’s wife got between the two men and pushed her husband away. Toro continued to use profanity, telling the security guard he “knew where he lived and was going to kill him.”
His wife eventually got him to walk away towards the parking lot.
The guard then notified his supervisor and deputies were called to the scene.
According to the report, When deputies located Toro, he said he and the security guard got into an argument but “nothing else occurred.”
Toro was arrested and charged with battery.
“We expect guests to treat our cast members with courtesy and respect, and while the vast majority of guests have adapted to our new measures, this unfortunate case required law enforcement,” Disney spokeswoman Andrea Finger said in a statement to Spectrum News.
Disney parks have made it clear in updated policies which masks are acceptable. You can find this information on their site.
If you want to visit a theme park, but you don’t think you need to follow the rules, don’t go. If you don’t want to be reminded to wear a proper mask, don’t go. If you don’t want to be told to wear your mask properly, don’t go. If you don’t want to social distance, don’t go. The rules are in place to keep everyone as safe as possible so the parks can remain open. You have no business getting upset with or yelling at employees who are asking you to follow the rules. And you have absolutely no business getting physical with them. If you can’t control yourself, don’t go.
