A 21 year-old worker has fallen to his death while performing a safety check on the Orlando StarFlyer attraction at ICON Park on International Drive.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office said it was reported at 7:40 am. He was climbing the tower when he fell to the bottom platform. He was about half-way up the 450-foot ride.

Rescue officials said crews used a platform truck to reach the man. He had gone into cardiac arrest.

He was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The StarFlyer is dubbed the “world’s tallest swing ride.”

This is a truly tragic incident and my heart goes out to this young man’s family, friends, and co-workers.
