Hong Kong Disneyland Gets New Castle Transformation for 15th Anniversary

Today is Hong Kong Disneyland’s 15th Anniversary. To kick it off, they unveiled the transformation of Sleeping Beauty’s Castle to the Castle of Magical Dreams. It’s the first time a castle isn’t just one Disney Princess. It features 13 Princesses and Queens.

The castle features cultures from all over the world, just like the princesses. There are architectural inspirations from Europe, China, and Southeast Asia. Murals depicting each princess and queen pursuing their passions are found around the area. Cinderella can be seen riding a hot air balloon over her kingdom. Auroroa is dabbling in falconry. Ariel is on a sailboat to visit her family.

From the stained glass window, I can see Moana, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Pocahontas, Mulan, I think Princess and the Frog, Tangled, Brave, and Frozen. That gives us Moana, Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Pocahontas, Mulan, Tiana, Rapunzel, Merida, and Elsa and Anna. Unless I’m wrong about the Princess and the Frog. What do you think?

As a tribute to the Sleeping Beauty Castle, Flora, Fauna, and Merriweather can be seen spreading fairy dust across the castle’s breezeway, castling light into the chandeliers, and leading the way to a new rotunda featuring 9,000 points of dancing lights! I love Easter eggs and tributes!

The resort invited guests, cast members, and community partners, and Disney friends, including Mickey Mouse, to share their dreams and wishes on “magical dream cards.” The cards were put into a treasure chest and lifted to the top of the tallest tower in the castle. This is the sweetest thing ever! Going there you’ll know that their dreams and wishes are in the castle and it’s so magical!

You can see the transformation in this video. They used VR to help design the new castle. This is the first time that Disney has expanded an existing castle in an operating park. This is really interesting!
