Magic Kingdom’s Rivers of America is Drained – What’s in There?

You’ve probably seen my posts with the drained Rivers of America by now. That’s the Disney river that the Liberty Square Riverboat travels on. It’s closed for refurbishment. Yes, it’s on a track. Sorry if I’ve ruined that fantasy for you.

As I have strolled along the river’s edge, I’ve stopped to look in for more than a quick peek. Mostly because I could see all kinds of garbage all over the place. The bright green Sprite bottles are easy to spot. I decided to take a little closer look.

I think some of the items in the river found themselves there on accident. Dropped by a child or someone and they couldn’t get it because it ended up in the water. A lot of it looks like it ended up in there due to people not being careful. And quite a lot of it because they weren’t disposing of their garbage in the plentiful and themed trash cans.

Did the babies who lost these pacifiers have parents who packed an extra? Or did they cry the rest of the day? I wonder how many other Magic Bands are out there in the mud? Was the necklace special, or just another souvenir? How many years has the tiny jack-o-lantern been there? We all know the masks are new additions this year.

Glasses. Ride glasses, sunglasses, and hopefully not prescription glasses. But for real, who is taking the ride glasses? Rude.

These poor Mickey straws have seen better days. I hold on to mine like they’re gold. I’d probably cry if one ended up in the river.

I also saw a lot of coins on the river bed. I know we’re all used to throwing them into different bodies of water to be scooped up and donated to charity, but I sincerely doubt they’re picking them out of here.

This nifty piece of wood came from one of the barges that goes over to Tom Sawyer’s Island. Did it find it’s way to the murky, but shallow, depths of the river on accident or in a fit of Cast Member rage? The world may never know.

Speaking of raging Cast Members, how the hell did this phone receiver get out there? Like, where did it even come from? That thing has a cord on it. How long has it been in there?

Mr. Toad! For all these years I believed he was buried under his tombstone near the Gracey mansion. I feel betrayed.

This concludes our journey in pictures of the Rivers of America riverbed. We hope you’ve enjoyed your tour. Please dispose of your garbage in the appropriate receptacles as you exit. Thank you!
