Disney MagicMobile Launches Today

The new Disney MagicMobile option launches today at Walt Disney World on iPhone and Apple Watch. Other smart devices will be included in the future. Don’t worry, Magic Bands aren’t going anywhere. This is a new option for contactless use for entering the parks, connecting photos, and unlocking room doors for resort guests.

Guests can create a Disney MagicMobile pass through the My Disney Experience app and add it to their Apple Wallet app. You can store multiple passes on one device.

You’ll be able to choose from different Disney designs that animate when used. There are Passholder and DVC options. I’m a Passholder, so I can see that option, but not the DVC one. Each park has two designs, with Hollywood Studio’s having three.

To enter the park, you won’t have to unlock your Apple device or open the app. Simply hold it near the contact point.

To use Disney MagicMobile for PhotoPass, you will only need to present your mobile device to the photographer. For attraction photos, be sure to have your Bluetooth enabled. This is going to come in handy for me because I don’t usually wear a MagicBand and my Passholder card doesn’t pick up photos on attractions.

The My Disney Experience app also enables Disney Resort hotel guests to unlock their room door using the current digital room key feature.

It was incredibly simple for me to set this up on my iPhone. It only took a minute or two. Mostly because I was deciding on which picture to use. I can’t wait to try it out!
