Universal Studios Japan announced today that they will be closing from April 25- May 11, with the option to be closed for a longer period of time.
“Universal Studios Japan will be temporarily closed from April 25th to May 11th in response to a request for a practical closure of no spectators at the theme park following the issuance of an “emergency declaration” to Osaka Prefecture. We will be closed. The period may be extended depending on the situation.”
“Due to the request for leave, the information center will be temporarily suspended from April 30 for the purpose of ensuring the health and safety of the crew.”
Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga declared a state of emergency Friday in Tokyo and the western Japan prefectures of Osaka, Kyoto and Hyogo in an effort to curb a surge in coronavirus cases during the upcoming Golden Week holidays.
Japan has only vaccinated about 1% of their population and coronavirus cases are surging.
