A flock of pigeons was found about a week ago near the International Speedway Boulevard exit on I-95. Volusia County government officials said the sheriff’s office received calls from multiple drivers reporting white, dove-like birds flying toward cars.
Volusia County Animal Services, the Florida Highway Patrol and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission worked to gather the birds, saving 70. Officials confirmed the pigeons fell from a crate in the back of a truck. They asked for the owner to come forward, but no one did. The birds were placed with a rescue organization and quarantined.
The birds sustained injuries to their wings while out on I-95. They will be cared for until all of their feathers grow back. The pigeons will move to Universal Orlando next month to be part of the park’s Animal Actors On Location! show. Not a bad place to end up, I think!

Now when you go to the show, you will know a little bit about the perilous event that brought these pigeons to Universal Orlando!
