Theme Park Closures For Hurricane Ian

**Update to Busch Gardens – They are also closed today 09/27/2022.

Busch Gardens Tampa Bay and Discovery Cove will be closed on Wednesday, September 28 and Thursday, September 29.

Hurricane Ian is on it’s way to Florida and to protect the safety of ambassadors, guests, and the animals the parks will be closing for two days. Precautions are in place following the parks’ comprehensive weather preparedness plan to ensure the safety of their animals and ambassadors during this time.

They encourage you to check the Busch Gardens Tampa and Discovery Cove websites and social media to see current information. If you have reservations at Discovery Cove they will reschedule or refund them without cancellation or refund fees. You can call 407.513.4600 for more information.

All admission tickets have been extended through December 31, 2022.  Annual Pass Members’ guest tickets with an expiration date of Sept. 30 will be extended through Oct. 16.

**Update – The park will be closed Wednesday, September 28 – Thursday, September 29.

SeaWorld will have normal operating hours on 09/27. A decision for Wednesday and Thursday will be made by the end of day tomorrow.

Aquatica Orlando will be closed on Wednesday, September 28 through Thursday, September 29.

  • The theme parks and CityWalk will be fully closed on Wednesday, Sept. 28 and Thursday, Sept. 29. We expect to open on Friday, September 30 conditions permitting.
  • Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Florida will be cancelled Wednesday, Sept. 28 and Thursday, Sept. 29. We anticipate reopening the event on Friday, Sept. 30, conditions permitting.
  • The on-site hotels are currently at full capacity and will remain operational as they focus on taking care of our on-site guests.
  • For our Premier Passholders, if you haven’t already used your one (1) free night benefit to experience HHN, we will be adding additional nights for you to choose from due to the impact of Hurricane Ian. We will keep you posted as those dates become available.

Universal Parks & Resorts Vacations™ Severe Weather Policy

While an incredible vacation awaits you, unfortunately we can’t make guarantees about the weather, but your travel plans can still be stress-free. In the event that a hurricane or tropical storm warning is issued by the National Hurricane Center or a state of emergency is declared for the Orlando area or in your place of residence, within seven days of your arrival, you can contact our team in advance to reschedule or cancel your Universal Parks & Resorts Vacations Package, hotel room only accommodations and Universal Orlando theme park tickets booked directly with Universal Orlando, without any cancellation or change fees imposed. If you have purchased airline tickets as part of your Universal Parks and Resorts Vacations package, you may still be subject to cancellation and change fees assessed by those airlines.

If you have purchased Universal Orlando products and services through third-party suppliers, travel agents or tour operators please contact them directly for information regarding their cancellation or change policies and procedures. The policy does not apply to certain special events, dining experiences or group related bookings.

Universal Orlando is currently operating on a normal schedule.

**Update – Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser voyages departing Tuesday, Sept. 27 and Thursday, Sept. 29 have been canceled due to the potential impact on the guest experience. Guests with reservations for these dates are asked to please call 407-939-5209 for help with modifying their plans.

Walt Disney World Theme Parks and Water Parks

Walt Disney World will temporarily close our theme parks on Wednesday, Sept. 28 and Thursday, Sept. 29:

  • Magic Kingdom Park
  • EPCOT
  • Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park
  • Disney’s Hollywood Studios
  • Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park (Disney’s Blizzard Beach water park is currently closed for the season.)
  • Winter Summerland Miniature Golf
  • Fantasia Gardens
  • Fairways Miniature Golf

Partially used multi-day theme park tickets with a usage window impacted by Hurricane Ian related park closure will automatically be extended to use the remaining entitlements through any date through September 30, 2023.

Walt Disney World Resort Hotels

For the safety of our Guests and Cast Members, Guests must check in to our resorts on Sept. 28, by 3 p.m. Please feel free to reschedule your trip or cancel your stay with us; any customary cancellation fees will be waived.

  • Guests that are checked in by 3 p.m. Wednesday will be asked to shelter in place at their resort for the duration of the storm, this includes any resort-to-resort transfers
  • Guests are strongly encouraged to enjoy food and beverage offerings at the parks and Disney Springs before returning to their Resort hotels.
  • Dining options for Guests staying in our Resort hotels will vary, and in some cases may be very limited. Where available, restaurants will accept walk-ups only; Guests will not need dining reservations.
  • Characters will not be available in character dining locations on Wednesday and Thursday
  • The Grand Floridian Spa will close at noon Wednesday, Sept. 28.

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, Copper Creek Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa and the Bungalows at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort will temporarily close Wednesday, Sept. 28 through Friday, Sept. 30 due to the weather. We are contacting Guests with current and upcoming reservations.

Dining, Enchanting Extras, and Special Events

Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom has been cancelled for Thursday, Sept. 29.

Effective immediately, we will not enforce cancellation policies until further notice for dining and other experiences like Savi’s Workshop and Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique.

Performances of Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue have been cancelled Sept. 28 through Sept. 30 in light of the temporary closure of Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. Guests with pre-paid reservations will be automatically cancelled and refunded.

Transportation

  • Walt Disney World Transportation will stop operating Tuesday night after Disney Springs and the Walt Disney World theme parks close.
  • Limited Minnie Van and Mears taxi service will be offered to Walt Disney World resort Guests with existing breakfast reservations.

Other Walt Disney World Experiences

Disney Springs will be closed on Wednesday, Sept. 28. We anticipate Disney Springs will be closed on Thursday, Sept. 29, and will provide updates as we continue to track the storm.

Drawn to Life presented by Cirque du Soleil & Disney will be cancelled on Wednesday, Sept. 28 and Thursday Sept 29.

Guests are strongly encouraged to enjoy food and beverage offerings at the parks and Disney Springs before returning to their Resort hotels.

  • Winter Summerland Miniature Golf and Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf will also temporarily close Wednesday, Sept. 28 and Thursday, Sept. 29.
  • Reservations for Dining and Other Experiences: Effective immediately, Disney will not enforce cancelation policies until further notice for dining and other experiences like Savi’s Workshop and Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique.
  • Performances of Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue have been canceled Sept. 28-30 in light of the temporary closure of Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. Guests with pre-paid reservations will be automatically canceled and refunded.
  • Disney Springs is currently operating under normal conditions.

**Update for the LEGOLAND parks –

Wednesday’s + Thursday’s closure includes LEGOLAND® Florida Theme Park, LEGOLAND® Water Park and Peppa Pig Theme Park. During this time our hotels will remain open to guests with existing reservations.

Any tickets dated for Wed., Sept. 28 through this Sun., Oct. 2 will be automatically extended through Dec. 31, 2022. I haven’t seen anything on the LEGOLAND Florida or Peppa Pig Theme Park sites yet.
