Theme Park Damage From Hurricane Ian

I have been online all day gathering as much information and as many photos as I could find. Sadly, there aren’t a whole lot of photos to be found. With the parks being closed, it’s nearly impossible to get photos. I’ve been able to find the majority of them from the resorts.

As of this writing, Disney is doing a phased reopening tomorrow 09/30. Universal Orlando is also doing a phased reopening, but have stated that it will be for hotel guests only. They haven’t put out many details, but check back on themeparkmoju.com and TPMJ on Facebook.

SeaWorld, Aquatica, Busch Gardens, Discovery Cove, Adventure Island, LEGOLAND Resort, and Peppa Pig Theme Park will remain closed 09/30.

I’ve only been able to find one SeaWorld photo and it’s of their flooded guest parking lot.

Disney photos weren’t easy to come by either. There are two at the Contemporary Resort and one at Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Here are a few from Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa. Some limbs down and debris, and a very full pool.

I was able to find the most photos from Universal Orlando Resort. Sadly, we know of two attractions being damaged and underwater. Jurassic Park River Adventure and The Hulk Coaster in Islands of Adventure.

Aquatica Orlando

I only have entrance photos for the Endless Summer Surfside Inn and Suites.

I also only have two photos for Cabana Bay Beach Resort.

Portofino Bay Resort and the walkway were a bit easier to find, although hard to look at. It’s not easy seeing the resort underwater.

Here are some photos from the Royal Pacific Resort.

Here is the Hard Rock Hotel and walkways.

I also found a few backstage photos that are Halloween Horror Nights related. One showing that the water is already gone!

So the most important thing I want to say is THANK YOU to all of the people who stayed on at the parks and resorts to take care of everything and everyone. I know that I have seen a whole lot of bitching and complaining from guests about the resorts, food, tickets, money they spent on their vacations, etc., etc. Just know that the people who were there to take care of you and your problems were NOT AT HOME with their loved ones during this hurricane. They deserve respect and understanding. And when the parks reopen, you should continue to extend that respect and understanding. It’s not easy working in the tourist industry, the theme parks, and resorts. There are an awful lot of entitled and ungracious people you come into contact with. But they stay because they love their jobs and they love the wonderful guests they come into contact with every day.

I hope everyone reading this that was affected by hurricane Ian has come out of it safely. You are all badasses!
