D23 Disney Strange World Screening Event

I had the privilege of attending a D23 premiere screening event for Strange World this morning at the AMC Theater in Disney Springs. This was a free event to Gold members, but I don’t remember if other levels could get tickets.

Arriving at the theater, I was directed to a back entrance where I checked in. I was given a wrist band and sent to a table with swag.

I was given a Strange World hat and a Disney Movie Rewards code on a promotional card. The hat is embroidered with the title on the front and Splat on the back. It’s very nice, actually.

We had an introduction to the movie by Steve Wilcox. We were reminded not to record and told security would be observing for rule breakers.

I was pleasantly surprised by this movie. I had been hoping for a fun and different movie, and I was not disappointed. It’s a fresh new story in a new world. The animation is beautiful, the characters rich and relatable, and the story is wonderfully different. It’s nice to go see a Disney movie that isn’t somehow a remake of a story they’ve already told.

I very much appreciate the relationships and the way they effortlessly flow on screen. Thank you for telling this story with characters we see in real life every day, for letting them be who they are and not what they are. Thank you for making them normal, everyday people.

SeaWorld - Pay for a day. Play all year.

“The Clades are a legendary family of explorers whose differences threaten to topple their latest and most crucial mission into uncharted and treacherous territory.”

I thoroughly enjoyed Strange World and am definitely going to watch it again. It’s an enjoyable movie for all ages.

There’s a Strange World photo opp by the AMC entrance just beyond the escalators of the Orange Garage.
