Disney Cruise Line will have a new destination for travelers in the summer of 2024. Currently guests on Disney cruises visit Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay. Lighthouse Point is located at the southernmost point of the island of Eleuthera in The Bahamas. Looking at the artist concept art, it looks like it’s quite different from Castaway Cay. Of course you’ll still be able to see Disney characters at Lighthouse Point. Lighthouse Point will offer activities and areas for every age group.

“Lighthouse Point pays tribute to the beauty of nature, which gives shape to every architectural detail. Nature’s influence can be seen in the curvy, organic shapes and vibrant colors of the architecture inspired by plants and shells from around the island.

Community and collaboration are also a shaping force. Across the island and around The Bahamas, we’ve partnered with artists, historians and cultural ambassadors to bring Lighthouse Point to life. Recreational and water areas have been infused with the colors, music and festive spirit of the Bahamian street parade, Junkanoo. Murals, sculptures and other designs created by Bahamian artists, including some from Eleuthera, are integrated into gathering spaces and cabanas.”

“Located at the heart of Lighthouse Point exists our colorful Arts and Cultural Pavilion. Here, special programs and local artists provide Guests with opportunities to learn and celebrate the traditions and natural beauty of The Bahamas.”

When I visited The Bahamas the first time I was lucky enough to have a family friend take my group on a tour around Nassau. It was very interesting getting to learn about a different land. I think this pavilion is going to be fantastic.

Children ages 3 to 12 can play at a themed kids’ club under the care of highly-trained Disney Cruise Line counselors. What is it themed to? Why The Little Mermaid, of course! You can see Sebastian the crab in the rendering below. This area will also feature a dedicated kids only dining area.

As you can imagine, there will be plenty for families to do at Lighthouse Point. There is a family beach, water play area, market-style family dining, and games and activities. There is a covered gaming pavilion, a volleyball court and gaga ball pit, watercraft and bicycle rentals, nature trails for hiking and biking, and more. 

“Splash it up in a vibrant Bahamian-inspired, interactive water play area featuring 2 slides. Create your own island sounds with water drums and make waves in the fountains—there’s even a dedicated space designed just for toddlers.”

Away from the activity of the family beach, there will be 20 premium family cabanas. and 4 double cabanas you can rent. The double cabanas accommodate larger groups and offer massage services. The beachside cabanas are inspired by nature and decorated in collaboration with local artists. No word on pricing at this time, but I can only imagine they will cost a pretty penny. And they’ll probably be snapped up quite quickly.

If you want to be away from the family areas, there will be a place for you. Just like Castaway Cay, Lighthouse Point will have adult areas. An adult-exclusive beach with 6 private cabanas, adult-style market dining, and three bars.

If you’re looking for a different adventure, a collection of new Port Adventures developed in partnership with local tour operators will take guests beyond Lighthouse Point to explore the rich culture and breathtaking beauty of Eleuthera.

I didn’t see anything about retail shops, but I’m sure there will be at least one. It’s more likely that there will be multiple shops.

I’m really excited about this new island destination and hope I get a chance to visit Lighthouse Point in 2024!

“Hiring for direct employment with Disney Cruise Line for operational roles at Lighthouse Point is expected to occur 18-24 months prior to the start of operations.
