UOAP Passholder Night Review

I was able to attend the UOAP Night event on 08/26/2023. Universal had announced the event and told passholders to watch their email for a link to sign up. These events are limited capacity, so people watch their inboxes like hawks. I happened to be on my computer when it came through and I didn’t have trouble signing up. I saw many angry posts in the UOAP Facebook groups because some folks weren’t able to get an invitation confirmed, most stating that they waited an hour while trying. To that I say, “Have you ever tried a virtual queue like this for Disney? Because you will waste 1-5 hours of stress and anxiety trying and still not get what you want.”

Before we entered Islands of Adventure, we saw a rather large stand-by queue of hopeful UOAPs. We later learned that they were all allowed to enter the event.

This event offered early check in. We took full advantage of that and were in Islands of Adventure around 4:30 to get our wristbands, which took no time at all. A little later we were walking through Seuss Landing and saw a line that stretched back to the Caro-Seuss-el. It most surely was UOAPs who were later to the game waiting in line for their wristbands. I heard that there was another line outside that was quite long. And lots and lots of complaining about said lines from some of the people who arrived late and waited in them.

There was almost no information shared about what to expect from the event. I came upon a UOTM with some papers and stopped to ask what he could tell me. I found out there were several specialty drinks and two stuffed pretzels. More on that below. He was also able to tell me that there would be a DJ dance party and some character meet and greets. I was hopeful that they’d bring out characters we never see anymore, but that wasn’t the case. The benefit to events like this are low crowds and shorter wait times.

First on my agenda when the event started was to find the stuffed pretzels. I was told there would be jalapeno popper and spinach and artichoke pretzels. After asking around, we found the spinach and artichoke pretzel at the lemon slush cart. The pretzel was herb stuffed with spinach and artichoke. Was it tasty? Absolutely. Do I hope they add it to the regular offerings? Absolutely.

There were character meet and greets in the front of the park, Seuss Landing, and Marvel Superhero Island. I only saw a couple of characters when I was in Marvel and didn’t stop for photos, but I heard there were more. I did stop in Seuss and the front for a few photos. King Julian was out there dancing with guests near the DJ.

Coca-Cola had a set up in Lost Continent with a DJ, strawberry Fanta tasting, and giveaways. I’m not sure how Poseidon would feel about their logo being on his ruins. I got a Coke button and koozie, but I know they had other things.

The UOAP Lounge was open for the event. We waited in the line to enter to see if there was anything special going on in there, or any event merchandise. Turns out they only had the new UOAP Freestyle cup.

Overall, it was a nice event. I think some things left room for improvement, but I do appreciate that they went to the effort to put it on. I’m grateful that I could make a reservation and attend. Spending time in the parks is always a good time!
