The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ – Ministry of Magic™ at Universal Epic Universe

Announced today – From 1920s Paris to the 1990s British Ministry, experience the wonder of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ – Ministry of Magic™. Opening 2025 at Universal Epic Universe. How exciting is this?! Even more of the Wizarding World will be ours to explore!

Developed by the award-winning Universal Creative team and Warner Bros. Discovery Global Themed Entertainment, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic builds upon the global phenomenon that began in 2010 with the debut of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade at Universal Islands of Adventure and continued with the 2014 launch of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley at Universal Studios Florida. Next year, the bar for theme park entertainment will be raised once again with the addition of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic – creating an exciting trilogy of wizarding adventures across Universal Orlando.

Encounter fantastic beasts as you explore wizarding Paris in the 1920s, then take the Métro-Floo to the British Ministry in the 1990s for new thrills with Harry, Ron and Hermione. Explore the streets of 1920s wizarding Paris like Newt Scamander™ himself, then experience new thrills in the British Ministry at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ – Ministry of Magic™.

From the Celestial Park hub of Epic Universe, you’ll enter the portal with the giant hand holding a wand atop it. Pass under the Phoenix Arch and you’ll find yourself in Place Cachée, a pocket of Paris catering to the witches and wizards of the 1920s! The bustling stone streets ahead are lined with shops, cafés and a series of banners advertising Le Cirque Arcanus — all beckoning you for a visit.

“We’ve recorded these little vignettes and stories to kind of populate our French city with French wizarding people. So if you’re stopping by a storefront, you might overhear the storekeeper talking to clients or you might overhear some gossip.” – associate producer Cara Pfost Brown.

Look for character and environmental interactions. They say you may bump into witches and wizards on the streets. When we opened Diagon Alley, we heard the same thing. It turned out that it was only for an extremely limited time during opening and not regularly. I hope they actually do this.

Magical creatures will have found their way into shop windows, nooks and crannies, ready to interact. “We have a moment where a Niffler will just look you in the eye and shove a gold bar in his pouch,” chuckles Scott. Overall, the world contains some of the smallest animated figures Universal Creative has ever developed, as well as some of the largest.

For the first time, you will be able to speak to various talking portraits and receive real, personalized replies. And you’ll be able to sharpen your spell-casting skills with amazing new wand experiences as you explore the streets of wizarding Paris, interacting with fantastic beasts and revealing hidden surprises.

The first ever Wizarding World indoor show will be Le Cirque Arcanus! Once the premiere showcase of magical creatures from around the globe, Le Cirque Arcanus has fallen out of favor. Ringmaster Skender seeks a reinstitution of the glory days, having finally accomplished his quest to obtain magizoologist Newt Scamander’s famed suitcase filled with the beings who would go on to inspire a seminal wizarding text (and required for Hogwarts students in Harry’s first year), “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.” The show includes a combination of live performers, puppets and special effects. Fans of the franchise will recognize familiar faces: a Demiguise, Zouwu, Kelpie, Mooncalves, and even Scamander himself are all scheduled to appear. But the audience will also be endeared to a new character: protagonist Gwenlyn, a squib and assistant to Skender.

Of course we’re all interested in what there will be to eat! One of the more refined dining options, Café L’air De La Sirène will serve French-inspired cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The interior will be a feat of architecture, adorned with carved marble and art nouveau mosaics featuring stunning period interpretations of witches and wizards. Even the ceiling detail features thoughtful design of flora and fauna from the wizarding world. Improbably towering displays of croquembouches provide a glimpse of dessert while you dine on baked goods, sandwiches and plats du jour.

Towering Choux à la Crème – Guests to this quintessentially French café will be amazed and enticed by the towering dessert displays constructed of almost 2,000 decorative individual cream puffs.

With two distinct outdoor seating areas, you can also get the full Parisian street café experience, which should be atmospheric for both dining guests and passers-by.

Bièraubuerre – Yes, you will find Butterbeer in Universal Epic Universe. This wizarding world must-have may have a different name in France (Bièreaubeurre, s’il vous plaît!) but that beloved taste reminiscent of butterscotch and shortbread can make even wizarding Paris feel familiar.

  • Le Gobelet Noir – In the shadowy corners of Place Cachée is a mysterious timeworn auberge, where international Dark witches and wizards gather to escape the prying eyes of the Paris Ministry and have a hearty meal over hushed conversation. Menu offerings include starters such as soups and salads as well as a variety of entrées and desserts.
  • Bar Moonshine – American witches and wizards can enjoy a taste of home at Bar Moonshine, where they’ll find exclusive beers, wines and cocktails served amid U.S. Quidditch team pennants and other items of wizarding Americana.
  • Bièraubeurre Cart – No visit to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is complete without Butterbeer! Guests can stop by the Bièraubeurre cart during their visit to Place Cachée for a frosty, delicious mug of the fan-favorite beverage.
  • Guests can also shop for wizarding gear and memorabilia in Les Galeries Mirifiques, satisfy their sweet tooth at the French confectionary shop, K. Rammelle, or make a stop for Ministry of Magic-inspired items at the Métro-Floo gift shop, Tour En Floo.

There’s an entirely different wand shopping experience in Paris than in Ollivander’s Wand Shop. Inside Cosme Acajor Baguettes Magique, witches and wizards will find some of the finest wands in the world, designed by esteemed artisan wandmaker, Cosme Acajor. Acajor’s unique approach to wandlore, couture influence, and utilization of distinct wand cores results in an outcome that is not a wand, but a work of art.

Specializing in different wand cores than her British wand master counterparts, she considers her wands works of art and only sells product of the highest standard. Ornate wand arrangements seem to hover in the air, forming a centerpiece above the displays where her signature triangular packages are neatly stacked. While Acajor’s exclusive line is the main feature here, you will also find plenty of British wand imports.

Like all Wizarding World shops, this one has a something special. Crafted with over eight hundred crystal wands and adorned with brass Pixies, the chandelier is a wonder to behold, and a well-suited complement to the remarkable wand designs in the shop.

Guests who can’t wait to showcase their excitement for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic can now purchase a variety of new merchandise inspired by the upcoming themed environment – including apparel, accessories, drinkware and more. The collection is available for a limited time and can be purchased at the Universal Epic Universe Preview Center in Universal CityWalk and on shop.universalorlando.com.

How are we getting into the Ministry of Magic? We’ll head into the Paris Métro-Floo station and travel to 1990s London, of course! Once inside, you’ll take in your Art Nouveau surroundings and follow the signs down hallways lined with white tile. You’re directed to step into a large Métro-Floo fireplace before you are engulfed in magical green flames (it’s quite easy dear, don’t be afraid). You will emerge at your destination and see that you’re no longer in Paris. A familiar and breathtaking grand atrium greets you and you know your journey has been a success.

On to the good stuff! The new attraction is Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry. It says it’s a thrill ride with motion simulation. The minimum height is 40″. Travel by Métro-Floo from Paris to the British Ministry of Magic™ where Dolores Umbridge™ is about to stand trial. Board a lift and join Harry, Ron, and Hermione as you journey deep into the Ministry’s many departments. Thrilling adventure, fantastic beasts, and unexplored mystery await!

The queue will be an attraction unto itself. You’ll wind your way through various recognizable departments and workspaces.

The story – Shortly after the Battle of Hogwarts, order has been restored in the Ministry of Magic and Lord Voldemort’s followers are being held accountable for their crimes. One such accused is none other than Umbridge herself, and you’ve arrived on the crucial day of her trial. You board a lift to the court room and notice that Harry, Ron and Hermione are in attendance, alongside a new character, Higgledy, Umbridge’s former house-elf. “She’s very happy that Umbridge is on trial because she was mistreated by Umbridge,” notes Kim.

Along the way, we witness Umbridge wriggle free of Ministry control with the help of Death Eaters Yaxley, Carrow and Macnair. Her stated mission: repair a broken Time-Turner in the Department of Mysteries and restore Voldemort’s reign. “We’re recruited by Harry, Ron, Hermione and Higgledy to capture her and stop her from escaping,” continues Kim, “And then we chase her through the Ministry and have a whirlwind adventure.”

Argued by some fans to be even more despised than Voldemort, Umbridge is a notable and formidable foe for our heroes. She also happens to be Kim’s favorite “Harry Potter “character. “I loved her!” she laughs before clarifying, “as like a villain.”

Fun fact: Both the queue and attraction spaces for Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry™ are covered by tiles. The Métro-Floo alone has over 80,000 subway tiles and the British Ministry of Magic™ spaces have over 125,000 of the iconic Ministry tiles in five colors!

After the attraction – At this point in your outing, you’re probably reliving the excitement of what you just witnessed with your companions, but there’s still one more stop on your return trip. Found on your way back to Place Cachée, Tour En Floo offers most anything a traveler could need. The atmosphere and merchandise will have a global feel, and you can happily browse wands, stationery, sundries and a stylish new Auror clothing line.

Now that you have some amazing details of the new Wizarding World of Harry Potter Ministry of Magic, what do you think? Has your excitement for this new land grown? What are you most excited for?
