Jaws was released on June 20, 1975. It is adapted from a novel by Peter Benchley written in 1974. The movie rights were purchased prior to publication. Stephen Spielberg was the young 26 year old director. It starred Roy Shceider (Chief Martin Brody), Richard Dreyfuss (Matt Hooper), Robert Shaw (Quint), Murray Hamilton (Mayor Larry Vaughn), and Lorraine Gary (Ellen Brody).
This year Jaws celebrates its 50th anniversary. There will be celebrations and events across the country, including opportunities to watch Jaws in theaters.
Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood will be releasing some fintastic merchandise in the parks beginning in May.
You can’t deny the jawsomeness of the Jaws sipper! The designers need an award for this one. I’m also loving the bottle holder. It’s both stylish and functional.

The ship in a bottle bag is genius! It features the ORCA being chomped by Jaws. The personal size cooler is a must-have.

Of course they’ll have Jaws 50th anniversary clothing and accessories! I can’t wait to see everything they’ll offer!

In April, the 2025 TCM Classic Film Festival will host the first theatrical screening of the year with a special 50th anniversary presentation of Jaws. Fans across the country can be apart of the celebration over Labor Day weekend when Jaws returns to the big screen on August 29 through September 4. For those looking to join in on the celebration from home, Jaws will be streaming exclusively on Peacock starting June 15 along with Jaws 2, Jaws 3-D, and Jaws: The Revenge.

Universal Orlando has a series of seasonal Tribute Stores, Mardi Gras, Summer, Halloween, and Christmas. I’m very much hoping that the Summer Tribute Store this year will be dedicated to Jaws. I do hear that there is a possibility that there may not be one this summer, which would be an utter travesty because it’s the Jaws 50th Anniversary.
If you’re in Martha’s Vineyard where JAWS was filmed, they’ll be celebrating Amity Week June 19-29. They’ve got a bunch of fun events planned.

Also in Massachusetts, you can go to the Martha’s Vineyard Museum for Jaws at 50: A Deeper Dive. If you’re in California, be sure to head over to the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures for Jaws: The Exhibition.
If you want to see and learn about sharks you can visit a SeaWorld park. Jaws 3-D was partly filmed at SeaWorld Orlando!
