Das Stakehouse is a quick service restaurant in the Dark Universe portal of Epic Universe. It’s described by Universal as: “Shrouded in mystery, Das Stakehaus is an old inn and dining hall built over the ruins of ancient catacombs. Here you can enjoy a meal surrounded by vampire artwork and artifacts. In fact, the restaurant is run by vampires’ “familiars”, or servants. Just don’t venture down to the catacombs below, or you might find yourself on the vampires’ menu.”

You will go in and choose a table where you will be able to mobile order from. Like other restaurants around Universal Orlando Resort, the tables have QR codes and table numbers. You will order and the food will be brought to your table. There are Coca-Cola Freestyle machines along one wall.
I was unable to take photos or videos the first time I went to Epic Universe. When I walked through Das Stakehouse for the first time, I was literally tearing up with love and excitement. If you love horror and Universal Monsters, you will probably be overcome with emotion in there. The details are beyond expectations. I will warn that if you have anyone in your party who scares easily or doesn’t like blood and gore, this won’t be the place for you. See photos for details.
Everything about Darkmoor in Dark Universe is eerie and amazing. Let me show you what Das Stakehouse has in store for you.
This is part of the queue to get to the dining rooms. There is a counter where you can order if you are having trouble with the app.

These are photos from the dining areas. Das Stakehaus’ many paintings depict the world of vampires from their point of view, painting them as heroes in their stories, while displaying some of Darkmoor’s history, and referencing its architecture. The lights in the dining room will occasionally darken and look red. The details are truly stunning!

On your way out of the dining room area you will meet a small friend. You’ll want to take notice of the different light fixtures throughout the restaurant.

There is an area before exiting that has a doorway on the left. Both times I was at Das Stakehouse there wasn’t anything out there, but it definitely looks like tables will be added for outdoor seating. This area is also wonderfully themed.

I was with two friends and we each ordered something different. I was foolish and didn’t take screenshots of the menu in the app while I was there. They don’t come up if you’re not in the park at this time. One of the dishes isn’t on the current website menu.
Meals are served on real dishes with black metal silverware, a nice detail. The silverware is wrapped in a red paper napkin. I had the Crimson Glazed Pork (Char siu-style roasted pork belly with bloody roast pork dipping sauce, charred green onion mashed potatoes, roasted baby carrots, acorn squash, crispy maitake mushrooms), and my friends had the meatloaf (I don’t remember the official name and this item isn’t on the current menu.) and the Bird on a Stake (Grilled dry-rubbed chicken tenderloin with red chimichurri, charred green onion mashed potatoes, roasted baby carrots, acorn squash, crispy maitake mushrooms). Everything was delicious. I had a bite of each of theirs. I will honestly say that my pork was a rather small portion and I was left hungry.

I’ll be sharing more on the food of Epic Universe here on my website, on my Theme Park MoJu Facebook page, and my Instagram. Be sure to check out those socials for more!
