Halloween Horror Nights 2022 Houses Ranked By UOTMs

It’s Halloween Horror Nights Eve. The night before we all go out into the Florida heat donning our HHN t-shirts from previous events that have etched themselves into our hearts. We are excited and hopeful. This is our time.

We’ve speculated on houses since before last year’s event was even over. Wishing for favorite IPs and imagining what original houses would be.

While we know what they are, most of us haven’t had an opportunity to experience them yet. Unless, that is, you are a Universal Orlando Team Member who was able to attend preview night. That was one of my favorite perks in my time at the resort. By far.

I asked my UOTM friends who attended the HHN Team Member preview to rank the houses. I had eleven respond that had seen all 10 houses. These are first impressions on what is technically a rehearsal for the event.

If you’ve been able to enjoy the event more than one night, you’ll know that each walk through a house is different. Sometimes your favorites change.

While this is a small sampling of team members who were at the event, I thought it would be fun to see what they thought. I’ve listed the houses from the lowest ranking to the highest. There were a couple of people who responded and hadn’t seen the houses and I’ve included what they ranked the houses in parenthesis.

10 Hellblock Horror (2, 4) – Enter a prison whose savage inmates are monstrous creatures. If they break free from their cells, it’s a death sentence for everyone.

9 Spirits of the Coven – A coven of beautiful flapper witches will lure you into their 1920s speakeasy, reveal their haggish true form and turn your scream squad into a witch’s brew. They’ll be cackling; you’ll be screaming.

8 Descendants of Destruction (2, 3) – Careful not to leave any of your scream squad behind as you descend the subway tunnels of a deserted New York. Lurking in the dark are hungry mutants looking to feast on the last remnants of humanity.

7 Fiesta De Chupacabras (5) – Visit a Latin American village where the legend of the creature Chupacabras is celebrated with a colorful fiesta. And the streets are lined with the crimson blood of tourists like you and your amigos.

6 Halloween – Silent. Merciless. Relentless. There’s nobody like Michael Myers. And if your scream squad is ready, this year, you can gather together and face the terror of Halloween from the very beginning.

5 The Horrors of Blumhouse (1, 6) – Get ready for a bloodcurdling new double feature of Blumhouse horror as your scream squad faces a ruthless serial killer in Freaky and an evil kidnapper in the relentlessly terrifying The Black Phone.

4 Bugs: Eaten Alive (3) – While touring a 1950s home of the future, you’ll be surrounded by the slime of bugs everywhere as hordes of many-legged terrors descend upon you and your scream squad. You’ll be dropping like flies.

3 Universal Monsters: Legends Collide (1, 6) – If you thought one Universal Monster was scary, how about three? Summon your scream squad, ‘cause you’re about to get caught between The Wolf Man, Dracula and The Mummy, together for the first time.

2 The Weeknd: After Hours Nightmare (5) – You love his music, but can you survive his mind? The Weeknd is about to stalk your squad through this haunted house, a surreal living nightmare from his After Hours videos. His nightmare is now yours.

The house that ranked first did so by a large margin. It was ranked number one by nine of eleven respondents.

1 Dead Man’s Pier: Winter’s Wake (4) – In a New England fishing village, undead fishermen emerge from the waves to seek their revenge. You and your scream squad may have escaped their hooks in the scare zone. Now they’ll reel you in and drag you under.

I’m sure you’ve all got houses that you want to visit first. The ones you’re most looking forward to. Does this align with that, or does it make you reconsider?
