Biergarten- Disney Dining in the Covid-19 Era

I had a reservation to go to Epcot on Saturday, July 18. After we walked around a bit, we decided to see if there were any dining reservations still available. There were actually quite a few, so If you’re a last minute planner it’s great. We ended up walking up to ask about the menu and were immediately seated. I kept counting filled tables and never saw more than 11 including us.

They have tables that are not in use to keep everyone distanced. They are also only seating your party at a table. Normally, you could be seated with other parties at the long tables. The Cast Members are wearing masks and face shields and I saw a lot of cleaning going on.

Biergarten is a buffet style family restaurant. For now, it’s become family dining style. That means that you will be shown to a table and platters of food will be brought to the table.

Biergarten is one of my favorite Epcot restaurants. The entertainment is pretty great, it’s a lively Polka band. They still have you raise your glasses high, but there is no more yelling. My favorite part, but it’s to keep everyone from spitting on each other.

The food is still delicious! They’ve chosen the favorites from the menu to serve. I was there with Julius, the Ju in MoJu, and we ate tons. Because it’s served family style, they brought out more food than the two of us could eat. We expressed that we felt bad about any food going to waist, and our server let us know that they sell the food scraps to pig farmers. Great news! My school in Hawaii did the exact same thing and it’s a hell of a lot better than it going into the dumpster.

They start you off with seasonal cold salads and pretzel rolls. We pretty much cleaned out the salad bowls. There was a vinegar tomato, a cucumber, a macaroni, and a potato salad. The pretzel rolls were in a different dish and served with real butter.

First Course, Salads and Bread

The entrees were super tasty! The larger platter is what they will bring out, the smaller plate is a “kids plate” that our server was nice enough to bring out. That one has the mac & cheese, which is a must-have. The large platter contains shnitzel, potatoes, spaetzal, various sausages, roast chicken, sauerkraut, and mustard.

Second Course, Entrees

I would have had a nicer picture full of desserts, but we were so excited about them that we just dug in. They brought out German cheesecake with a berry compote, this is to die for and is my favorite, black forest cake, brownies, cookies, and of course apple struedel.

They let you know that you can request more of anything they bring you. The only thing we asked for more of was the cheesecake.

It was strange being in Biergarten without all the people that are usually in there. It’s usually loud with music, dancing, and toasts. But it was still a very lovely experience. Everyone was very nice and took great care of us. If you’ve never been and you get a chance, go for it!
