Universal Orlando Legacy Store

With the opening of the new Universal Studio Store in City Walk, the old location was rebranded as the Legacy Store. Props and memorabilia had started to move into the store before the official change, and it was all exciting. This is the sort of thing Universal needed to showcase its rich history.

A lot of the merchandise is from their retro line and for attractions that may no longer be with us. Some of the things are newer and don’t really seem to fit in with the legacy theme. I hope they’ll expand the retro line because it’s just fantastic.

The store has quite a lot going on. If you’re just walking through to find a souvenir, you’re really missing out. You could spend hours just looking at all the props and signs. I took pictures of most of it, but I know there was more to be noticed. You can’t see all the tags, some are up higher than sight level, but they let you know where something was used. I saw things from E.T. Adventure to Back to the Future to Kongfrontation.

They have this signs with the dates of operation for attractions, and Seuss Landing. E.T. Adventure is the only remaining original attraction at Universal Studios. It’s also my favorite.

One of the coolest things they have are these signs with history of the parks in chronological order. They are up kind of high and are not easily read in the store.

Here’s what I found from Earthquake! I really miss this attraction. It was fun and exciting.

Ghostbusters was a show that I don’t remember ever seeing. But there’s also a bit of Halloween Horror Nights included in the displays.

Jaws is an attraction I will always miss. I don’t think I’ll ever get over it. I think just about everyone has very fond memories of it.

Jurassic Park has changed quite a bit. I do miss the old days when I saw more dinosaurs there. It has a bright future with the opening of the Jurassic World VelociCoaster. It’s still one of my favorite places in the parks.

I never made it to Kongfrontation. It’s a great disappointment in my life.

The Wizarding Worlds of Harry Potter brought Universal back in a big way. The success of Hogsmeade helped fund the parks and create new experiences. Diagon Alley was my home for three years. It has a large presence in the store because it’s been their bread and butter and is wildy popular.

As I said, E.T. Adventure is my favorite attraction. I saw this movie as a kid when it first came out and completely fell in love with all things E.T. I’d love for Universal to bring more merchandise to the parks.

I do believe the theme park wardrobe displays need to be expanded. There have been some really cool costumes that Team Members have worn. Having worn many different outfits myself, I can tell you that some of them are awful. Sometimes they are designed with only their look in mind, and not the comfort of the folks that are wearing them all day. But I did really enjoy the wardrobe for Lost Continent. It was like wearing pajamas to work! Everything I wore in Potter was crazy hot in the summer, and not warm enough in the winter. But those robes are to die for!

There are all kinds of props that have been used throughout the parks. Some from attractions or shows, some from events like Halloween Horror Nights. You will also see a photo from the beloved Dueling Dragons coaster.

I love a good wax souvenir machine. They’ve got Jaws in the Legacy Store! Notice that “Universal” is on the base. I really hope they can get one of E.T. Maybe I should start a petition?

Along one of the bay walls, you will see screens with clips from rides, shows, and even opening day. Ah, nostalgia!

It can take quite a while to catch all of the clips. They rotate on the walls and only about three or four are going at any given time. I did my theme park blogger duty and filmed them all for you so you don’t have to stand there waiting. They don’t have sound, everything you hear is the shoppers around me. So many things to miss and wish were still here.

I totally love the Legacy Store. It’s like a museum of awesomeness that shouldn’t be missed. I’d rather see more retro merchandise in there, and I’m hoping it’s a work in progress. I’d also love to see Universal Monsters out in full force, they’re lacking in the store.

I know I missed taking photos of plenty of other things to see. There’s so much!

Have you been in the Legacy Store yet? What was the coolest thing you saw?
